The Mateus & Sequeira wine house is inseparable from the life and work of its founder and administrator, Manuel Mateus. Born on October 7, 1960, in Soutelo do Douro, a parish in the municipality of São João da Pesqueira, Manuel Mateus grew up in a family linked to agriculture and, in particular, vineyards. In 1997 he launched fully into the wine business. Based on a reference production and management model, he created and developed Douro and Porto wines with great success in different wineries in the region, building the foundations of what would become Mateus & Sequeira, founded in 2008. From then on, based on the accumulated knowledge and the dynamics of the new company, Manuel Mateus dedicated himself exclusively to producing his own wines, bottled under his brands, thus beginning a new era.
